He's back, and what timing eh! As if 2020 couldn't have taken a sharper downward turn when music is concerned.
Covid-19 is shutting down (quite literally) dancefloors from Wuhan to Western California and it looks like we will be spending Summer
without any sport or festivals...bleak right. Luckily, just as all hope seems lost, deep in the Midlands of England, a pale white champion stepped forth to resurrect our eardrums. Yes, Jake Twell has returned with yet another set of tracks hot off the press to keep you dancing
in self isolation.
Freestyle Orchestra Ft D'Borah - Keep Pumpin' It Up (Jake Twell Overnight Edit)
The selection kicks off sensationally with a groovy remix of a floorfiller that landed 30 years back to the year! You might recognise the hooks as they are a firm fixture in DJ EZ sets! This track is a certified mood setter. Picture the scene, it's the middle of Summer and you are about to don a poorly fitting Hawaain shirt over your badly burnt English frame before necking a light beer and heading off to kick it old school at a sunset beach bar....or just a beer garden. This is your anthem! We all need to Keep Pumpin' It Up and Jake Twell is here to make sure we do.
Love Tribe - Stand Up (Jake Twell Overnight Edit)
The party amps up a gear with the second track. I almost fell off my chair with nostalgia first time I heard this little number because I
thought I was listening to Spiller by Groovejet! The beat is infectious and the vocals are absolutely sublime. It even has a sexy violin that pops in every so often to give you a little tease...the saucy minx. There was a special kind of House track that existed between the late 90s and early 2000's time. The era of Bootyluv and Freemasons and Michael Gray, and modern tracks seldom manage to encapsulate their vibe...until now. Take a bow Jake my boy.
Marth Walsh - Catch The Light (Jake Twell Overnight Edit)
Last but by no means least we have a remix of Catch The Light by Marth Walsh. This is definitely one to sing along too. I can certainly picture Felicity and all of her posh home counties mates wailing this one out at Ralph's big birthday bash...no but all jokes aside this track is fantastic. Every beat just rolls so perfectly into the next and the synths do wonders. All of this combined with those catchy vocals and you have a track that just oozes a sense of cool. You can't stay still to this track. Believe me I didn't on the first listen, then I tried on the second and felt like how I would imagine a house cat would if you were to slowly begin to exert greater and greater pressure on the base of its tail.
